I am so glad for you all! I haven't been on here much in recent years but I'm glad I stopped by today and can see this news! Remind him to take it slowly and patiently with his family. You know how it's done. :)

thanks to the australian royal commission our youngest son has woke up.
we received a e-mail from him tonight where he apologized to us for shunning us all these years, how bad he felt for doing this.

If the Gov. where you live outlawed the JWs would you turn in your family?
by blownaway ini guess it would depend for me.
some of my family i would take out bill boards pointing to them.
many of the elders it would be he is over there and set off a neon sign.

Anyone else watching the Leah Remini series "Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath" on A&E?
by NikL inmy wife and i started to watch this last night and have covered only 2 episodes so far but it is really interesting.. there are so many similarities between scientology and wt.
not in beliefs of course but in their shunning, of their version of apostates etc.. it was amusing for me to see my active jw wife watch and get all indignant.
at one point a statement was made that a religion "shouldn't separate families" and she muttered to herself "absolutely not".. i am kind of hoping that jws will watch and see what is being carried on by a high control cult and eventually recognize it in their own lives.

Is it morally wrong to put Watchtower behind?
by Darkknight757 inwith our latest and final run in with the elders, the wife and i had a very long talk about what's next in our life.
do we try to help others see the light as it were concerning watchtower or do we just let it go and move on with our life?
we have made it perfectly clear that we will never go back to watchtower and we are finally happy.

Not everyone can be a full time exJW activist.
Not everyone can be a part time exJW activist.Not everyone needs to be. If you *can* help people, then it's a great thing to do, but the guilt you might be feeling over not wanting to become an activist is probably residual cult programming. We shouldn't feel obligated to do every single good thing that it's possible to do. It's not our responsibility and it's not even practical to try; it leads to burnout. Take care of yourself and your family and then the rest will take care of itself.

Mass exodus? No. Steady outflow of members? Always has been, and is increasing in lands that are plugged in to the Internet. The amount of increase and how badly it will affect the Borg is the question. More and more people are leaving, but there are also more and more JWs, so it sort of evens out. Growth is pretty flat though. -

- First, I can confirm first hand that the only real growth is coming from undeveloped countries. I'm talking 150+ baptisms, per convention. Now while that isn't a huge number, compared to US baptisms per convention, it is a lot. It's also worth noting though that these are very poor people. Little education, without much to donate, if anything at all. I've seen it in person.
Is that a typo? 150+ baptisms per convention? I was in for around 40 years and can't remember a convention with more than a couple dozen, max, and usually more like 10-12.
